Pets Welcome Hotels

I designed and made the whole prototype: the concept, illustrated, animated and coded everything in Flash (so that they would all be vector graphics for fast download times and ease of manipulation for animating). This was done around time of Flash 4 using syntax like ‘tell target, go to, load movie’.

I wanted the experience of choosing hotels to be fun and to really communicate that this was done for ‘pets’. Normally when selecting hotels, we go through the steps of choosing 1) location 2)type of hotel 3) rating/stars 4) facilities. This process is often presented with checkboxes or drop-downs. Pets-Welcome-Hotel aimed to give the user a very memorable experience – so that users would remember the site and also tell other friends because of the novelty factor of the UI and animations.

(Note to self) current bug here with loading child swf into parent swf so opening in new window

In the example below, try out also the ‘zoom feature’ and the ‘checklist’.
