View the Virtual Takeaway and The Golden Dragon
‘The Golden Dragon’ was a part of my final year project at University. It was actually used on a touchscreen monitor within a whole installation with curtains made of chains of rice and chips (real food no kidding!).
This project had meant a lot to me because it expressed the feeling of diaspora growing up within two cultures. The Golden Dragon section had been inspired by a fantastic book called ‘Foreign Bodies’ by Hwee Hwee Tan. The Golden Dragon animates excerpts from the book.
I had used 3D Studio Max to model and animate the scenes (now converted as .swf for web). Some objects were from a 3D library – look carefully inside the fish tank and oh, I didn’t animate those chicken feet!
It’s fun so go take a look!
